Every Thursday we get together to rehearse, share music and have a good time. If you play the dolçaina or tabalet, or want to learn, you're welcome!
The Xirimiters de la Marina rehearse every Thursday at 9:00 pm. Rehearsals are the heart of our colla: it's where we prepare the repertoire, try out new pieces and, above all, enjoy traditional Valencian music together.
Your level doesn't matter. If you're starting out, the more experienced members will help you follow the pieces. If you already play, you'll find a group eager to make the dolçaina and tabalet sound as they deserve.
Each session combines technical work with fun. We start warming up with well-known pieces from the traditional Valencian repertoire — pasodobles, Moorish marches, jotas and boleros — and then we work on the new material we're preparing for upcoming performances.
We also make time to socialise: at the end of the rehearsal we usually meet up for a bite or a drink together. Because a colla of dolçaina players isn't just music, it's family.
If you've always wanted to learn the dolçaina or tabalet, this is your chance. We welcome new members of any age and level. Just come along one Thursday and introduce yourself. The first session is a trial, with no commitment.
If you don't have an instrument, don't worry. We can lend you a dolçaina or a tabalet during the first rehearsals so you can try before you decide.
Be part of the Valencian musical tradition. The dolçaina and tabalet are cultural heritage that we keep alive at every rehearsal.
More than a colla, we're a family. We share music, dinners, festivals and good times together all year round.
It's not just rehearsing: you'll play at patron-saint festivals, weddings, street parades and events all over the Marina Baixa.
The veteran members teach you naturally during the rehearsals. No prior experience is needed to start.
We represent Benidorm and the Marina Baixa wherever we go. We carry our music and the town's name with pride.
From the young to the veterans, everyone is welcome. Music knows no age, and neither does the dolçaina.
Come and meet us with no commitment. Bring your enthusiasm to have a good time and we'll bring the music.
